The idea that suppressed positive traits (like creativity) live in the shadow too was eye opening to me as I always thought of the shadow as consisting of our bad and harmful traits.
I also posted an article last week about a how we can honor our cultures while embracing the future and it was partly inspired by Jung and the concept of the shadow.
I would love to hear your thoughts on it. I just shared the link inbox.
You have managed to write so simply what most people spend a lifetime never quite understanding.
You have described my own journey in a way I that helps me understand it.
You have distilled the grunty and most important life lessons into an easily digestible short essay - amazing!
I think this wisdom should be part of school curriculum for all 16 year-olds! Just I magine if all our emerging young adults understood what you have explained so well!
Three golden statements I want to remember always:-
โJung saw the shadow as the person youโd rather not be. But spiritually speaking, itโs more accurate to say itโs the person you havenโt allowed yourself to be. โ
โThe dark night forces you to confront what youโve been avoiding. It burns away the false persona youโve built and leaves you with whatโs actually there. Which is usually much more interesting than what you were pretending to be.โ
โYou become someone who can sit with the full spectrum of human experience without flinching. โ
Great piece, Greg. Good advice. I don't see as much in the how-to realm on shadow work ๐๐บ
Thank you. Glad it was helpful for you. Much appreciated!
Youโre welcome โ keep up the good work ๐บ
Will do!

Love you man!
Thank you Andy! I am glad the piece was validating for you.
This is what I hope for when I write. That it will be helpful, spark ideas, help people see something a different way, etc.
I really appreciate your feedback!
